Looks Like a Palm Tree to Me .......

We live in a world where the telephone pole and telephone lines are ubiquitous....they're everywhere and we hardly see them.

With a new technology - cell phones - we needed a new way to provide transmission. Enter the Cell Tower -

For reasons which I have yet to figure out, planners have felt that the new cell towers were unsightly and needed to "blend in". So, then the cellular industry came up with the "stealth" solution.

Hard to spot the antennae, hey?

Why does anyone think this is better? Or is this a California phenomena?

When I have suggested that a different approach might be to blend cellular antennae with sculpture I am usually laughed at or ignored. But is it so hard to imagine?

These are MY photo collages -

with deep apologies to a great artist,
Mark di Suvero.

  1. I think this would be a wonderful solution, however, what about those places where such art would stand out just as much as a cell phone tower like the foot hills among the valley oaks?
